As Seattle Children’s partner in construction, Aldrich renovated the third floor of the Overlake Medical Pavilion in Bellevue to relocate its clinic for the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders in children. During preconstruction, our team supported the owner and architect by conducting constructability reviews and providing feedback on design elements.
Each sleep study room had its’ own climate controls making the sheer volume of equipment and infrastructure needed above the ceilings a logistical challenge. Because of the limited overhead space, the project team worked together to remove redundancies, carefully coordinate bringing in equipment, and sequence trades to allow them to work around each other safely and efficiently.
Construction began amid the Covid epidemic in December 2020. Despite heightened pandemic safety precautions and logistics hurdles, this dream team of Aldrich, Seattle Children’s, and ZGF Architects completed the newly renovated clinic including waiting/reception/patient check-in areas, clinical and administrative staff workstations, six exam rooms, twelve sleeping quarters, plus parent/family support spaces in just six months.
