We met the challenges to build a maximum security juvenile detention facility and administration/medical office building concurrently on the existing correctional facility campus without disrupting normal operations of school campus activities. Adding to the complexity, the decision was made to pursue LEED Silver after construction had started. Aldrich was a key contributor to the project team in achieving the LEED Silver certification under very tight budget constraints. Our support included analysis of achieving greater energy efficiency, increased use of recyclable materials and increased construction waste diversion. High-level security and ongoing operations required secured access for all deliveries and personnel. Construction activity and utility shutdowns required careful coordination and communication with school administration.
The abilities and attitudes of the contractor, architect, and maintenance staff aligned to demonstrate the highest levels of teamwork that I have experienced as a project manager.
